“Sweet Sasha” and “Marvelous Malia”

In this tanking economy, anything that generates profit and free publicity counts. Introducing Ty Inc.’s newest additions to the TyGirlz doll collection: “Sweet Sasha” and “Marvelous Malia.” Company spokeswoman, Tania Lundeen, wants us to believe that the names were not chosen because of their resemblance to the First Children, but because they “are beautiful names.” Sounds like a coincidental crock o’—- to me. I don’t care so much that Ty Inc. is capitalizing on the new White House cuties to make a buck–but let’s at least be sincere about our intentions! I would have had more respect for Ty had Tania said something like, “Look, obviously we can’t say that we’ve made them because they’re the names of the President’s children, and you know and I know that we’d never even heard of these names before this man ran for President, so what can we do? This economy sucks, and no one’s buying s***, so why don’t you just back up off me?!?”
