A New Type of Make-Over
Recently, one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and Cashmere, posted about the non-profit organization, Beauty Bus Foundation. Seriously, what a great program!
“Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for home-bound, terminally or chronically ill patients and their primary caregivers”, the Beauty Bus Foundation makes home visits to provide beauty and grooming treatments to people unable to leave their house or properly fix themselves up. Improving one’s quality of life and allowing them to enjoy the simple pleasures of things, like make-up and manicures, can easily boost spirits and assist in the coping process of having a disease.
The Beauty Bus Foundation serves clients with ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Spinal Cord Injuries, Muscular Dystrophy, Cancer and Strokes as well as the clients’ primary caregivers. Clients can choose from a variety of beauty treatments including haircuts, blow-drys, manicures, pedicures, facials and make-up application. Each visit allows one treatment for both the client and caregiver.
Right now this amazing program is only available in Los Angeles County, but after learning more about it, it’s definitely something I’d love to see Boston embrace!
