Beer + Friends + Waterfront Location in Southie = A Guaranteed Good Time

I hate to admit this, but I have Harpoon Brewery’s “Harpoon Fests” penciled into my day planner months in advance. The brewery hosts 3 beer fests a year (Octoberfest, St. Patty’s and Summer). You pay an entrance fee to get into the brewery area and have an opportunity to test out a variety of beer while socializing, eating and listening to live music. I’m very much looking forward to this year’s St. Patrick’s Day-themed festival taking place today and tomorrow. I’ve been going to their beer fests for years now and I have a blast every time. Yes, it can get a little rowdy – we’re talking thousands of people outside and under tents drinking beer for hours – but I get excited knowing that I’ll probably see 10 to 20 people I haven’t seen in awhile, stay until they kick everyone out, continue drinking at some bar in Faneuil Hall with old friends and/or new ones, and then end up at my go-to after-hours pizza joint for a late night snack in my neighborhood before crashing in bed. It may not sound like your cup of tea but, to me, it’s the epitome of pure Boston fun.
