Can We Go Back To The Way Things Used To Be, Snapchat?

As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, Snapchat recently updated its app with some pretty dramatic changes and people are pissed. So pissed in fact, that more than 1.2 million people came together to sign a petition encouraging Snapchat to reverse the updates.
In a response to the petition, Snapchat claims the goal was to “make it easier [for users] to connect with the people [they] care most about.” However, the new updates appear to benefit advertisers more than anyone else, seemingly forgetting the consumer all together. Snapchat developers continue to push forward the idea that in time, and as the app gets smarter, users will grow to like the updates more. And while there is typically some upset with any social media platform update, this one seems to have pushed people just a little too far over the edge.
Influencers are joining upset users and taking to Twitter to share their discontent with the updates. Many are even saying they’re less likely to use the app on a daily basis as a result of the changes.

While it seems at this point Snapchat is pretty set on the updates, users like Nic (who launched the petition) aren’t giving up any time soon. Is it worth maintaining the update in its entirety, Snapchat? While we appreciate the reply, I think users are looking for a little more than an ‘in time you’ll like it’ response. So keep fighting “old” Snapchat lovers, maybe sometime soon we’ll return to the glory days!
