Confessions of a Sale Shopaholic…

I love to shop. Neatly organized racks of clothing, crisp price tags and sturdy labels, dressing rooms with just the right lighting…there’s something about buying new clothes that refreshes me. For me, pick-me-ups have never been spas or facials, chocolates or a tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Shopping is what’s always left me feeling revived, renewed and looking amazing!

Sadly, I can’t afford everything I’d like to wear and I had to set my shopping budget at a reasonable limit. When I began my position at marlo marketing/communications, a block from Newbury Street, Copley Square & the Prudential Center mall, I felt tortured walking by my favorite stores and their illustrious window displays. There had to be a way to shop on a budget and still buy what I want.

I’ve found it… and now, I’m confessing a few of my sale shopaholic secrets with you!

Still have your college id? Take out that unflattering photo card and dust it off!  Are you a teacher and have a teacher id? Either will get you…

J.CREW an additional 15% off when you show your student/teacher id and offer a .edu e-mail at the time of purchase. The 15% discount even works on top of other sales…meaning that when they drop an additional 30% of their sale items in-store…you’ll save 45%! I pop my collar to that!

Flashing your student id at…

CLUB MONACO allows you an additional 20% off both regular priced & sale merchandise. Be chic on a budget & rock the Club Monaco style.

RUGBY grants you 15% all merchandise in-store. This is Ralph Lauren’s younger, hip line of preppy apparel with an edge. Check out the Newbury Street location or one of the other select stores nationwide.

Don’t have a student id, but want the discount?

APPLE allows you to get their education discount by ordering computers, IPODS and other gadgets on-line. Select your college/alma mater and enjoy 10% or more off select products.

SEPHORA has a great program called, Beauty Insider. Sign up and get great offers via e-mail and a free product with every $100 you spend. Over the past year I’ve scored items like a Dior bronzer and Bare Escentuals lip gloss.

GAP gives you 10% off your purchase on the first Tuesday of every month, if you sign up for a Gap card and charge it!

Everyone loves a discount…and everyone loves new clothes. It’s time to check out my way of enjoying both on a budget!
