Dylan’s Candy Bar
While conducting deskside meetings in NYC recently, I had some time to stop by one of my favorite stores in the city, Dylan’s Candy Bar on the Upper East Side. This store opened way back in 2001 by Dylan Lauren (Ralph Lauren’s daughter) but it still blows my mind every time I visit. I haven’t been since her expansion last year, but it was WAY bigger than before and can now be deemed “The World’s Biggest Candy Store” with over 5,000 different types of candy. Dylan is truly a branding genius. Dylan and her team are constantly adding new, unusual candy and other candy-themed merchandise including edible post-it notes, astronaut candy, crystalized branded sweatshirts, “Get Well” candy gift baskets, a rock candy “aquarium,” body lotions in candy scents, etc. You name it – she has it! They even play all candy/dessert-themed music like “Ice Cream,” by Sarah McLaughlin and have clear staircases with real candy frozen in them. There’s even a large portrait of Dylan made with Jelly Beans! If you’ve never been, or never heard of the store before, it’s worth a visit next time you’re in the area. Bring the kids too, they will SCREAM with delight.
