Fog Distilled Vodka. It Now Exists.
Have you ever thought, “Wow, it would be really cool & probably so delicious to drink a fog distilled vodka?”
Yeah, me neither.
Luckily for any folks that have had that thought cross their mind, several hipsters in San Francisco have created the unthinkable: a vodka (aptly named Fog Point) that uses California fog (did you know it has a name & Twitter account?) during the distilling process.
Sounds strange, right?
Just so you’re not foggy on all the deets (sorry, had to!)… the head distiller at Hangar 1 Vodka told Time that the fog water actually tastes like what you’d expect, noting that it adds an earthy note to the spirit. He compares it to the “scent of moist rocks” (yum!) and that the finished product also has notes of citrus and honeysuckle.
Best yet? 100% of the profits goes towards water conservation. And from my time spent in California, that is much needed.
Of course, alcoholic California fog will cost you a pretty penny. For the taste of moist rock, citrus & honeysuckle, you’ll have to drop $125 on a bottle.
