I’m one of those people who needs complete silence when I’m really trying to focus on work. If I’m having a busy day, you can hear a pin drop in my apartment. I find songs with too many catchy lyrics to be distracting. However, from about eight to 10am I try my best to ease into the day with some music as I scan the daily headlines, and if you’re like me, it’s tough to find a playlist that doesn’t drive you completely bonkers.

So, I’ve done the research for you! The next time you’re looking for a playlist to accompany your workday, try one of these gems, all available on Spotify:

Morning Coffee Acoustic – This playlist will transport you to a cozy coffee shop (unfortunately, you’ll still have to make your own latte). Artists include Tom Petty, Brandi Carlisle, The Paper Kites, and lots of indie talent you never knew existed.

Productive Morning – Focus, focus, focus is the goal with this one. The low-key, mellow vibes will help you power through your to-do list.

Have a Great Day – A little more upbeat than the aforementioned, this playlist will instantly put you in a good mood. It’s got all the classic, feel-good jams like “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves, “Africa” by TOTO, and gems from The Beatles, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and many more.

The Daily – Okay, it’s not a playlist, but I love spending the first 30 minutes of my day making breakfast and listening to this rundown of the day’s top stories. Produced by the New York Times, this podcast breaks down important topics into digestible segments that make you feel “in the know” when it comes to current events.

Happy listening!
