Gibsihana: My New Life Goal
I personally never need a reason to go to Benihana – sure, if it’s a birthday that’s great, but if it’s just any old Sunday at 11:30am, I’m even more thrilled to be the first one through the door for some tepanyaki steak and double order of fried rice. I’ve spent hours Googling how to make magical hibachi fried rice a la Benihana, but regardless of how much butter I add, it’s never quite the same. I could go on for hours about the many reasons that hibachi breakfasts, lunches and dinners are far superior to other dining options – The Onion Volcano, anyone? – but never once have I dreamt about the possibility of having my own personal Behihana. That is, until Aziz Ansari posted a video to Instagram, highlighting a dinner party at Tyrese Gibson’s personal backyard “Gibsihana.”
Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but this is the first I’ve heard of Mr. Gibson and I have to say that he is my new hero. While “Harrihana” doesn’t exactly have the same ring to it, I now have another reason to start saving for retirement.
