Gilmore Girls Are Back For More!
As you may have heard, everyone’s favorite “WB” (that’s a throwback for ya) show “Gilmore Girls” is coming to Netflix on November 25th, 2016 for a four-part reboot titled “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” The new series continues right where the show left off in 2007, with most of the original cast and crew back for a serious dose of nostalgia.
As a way to get people excited about the upcoming premiere, the online streaming service celebrated the show’s 16th anniversary by releasing a video featuring on-set interviews with more than 12 cast and crew members, along with iconic scenes from the show. In addition, the most impressive PR tactic was that Netflix opened more than 200 pop-up coffee shops across the country that resembled the show’s iconic hangout – “Luke’s Diner.”
Free and open to the public, fans waited in lines to receive cups of coffee adorned with the diner’s logo and famous GG quotes. Luke himself, a.k.a Scott Patterson, even made a special appearance at the pop-up in Beverly Hills, CA, where he dressed the part and greeted throngs of fans. For those who weren’t lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Luke in 90210, a life-size cut out of him was also in every store throughout the nation with an accompanying list of “Diner Rules.” My favorite being – “No MAN BUNS!” (Sorry Pat, you’re not allowed).
Kudos to Netflix for bringing the series back to life and to “real life” with their clever coffee promo – I know I’ll be drinking it all in come November 25th, along with the rest of the twenty and thirty somethings out there.
