Hangover-Free Alcohol Is On Its Way
When’s the last time you woke up with a pounding headache, aversion to loud noises (or any noise), a strong desire for greasy food, and filled with immense regret for actions the night before…aka a MASSIVE hangover? For most of us 20-somethings it was probably pretty recently (like last weekend) and if it’s not, well good for you I guess (can you sense the jealousy?). I’m sure we’ve all had the thought before, why do hangovers have to exist? We’ve tried all the tricks in the book, working out, greasy fried food, coffee, Pedialyte and nothing works.
Luckily, some genius in the UK decided he was done with the debilitating morning after drinking symptoms and set out to create “hangover-free alcohol.” Professor David Nutt created a new drink called ‘alcosynth’ which, as he told The Independent, “is designed to mimic the positive effects of alcohol but doesn’t cause a dry mouth, nausea and a throbbing head.” And as if that wasn’t enough to convince you this was a great invention, he said they “have also managed to limit the effects of drinking a lot of alcosynth, so in theory it would be impossible to ever feel too ‘drunk’.” Another bonus: drinking this synthetic alcohol won’t damage your liver and heart like regular alcohol.
Basically, I can’t wait for this to come out. Unfortunately, we may have to wait a little while due to research and funding and other science things I don’t understand. But don’t lose faith, the genius Professor hopes that by 2050 this hangover-free alcohol will replace our normal vodka, gin and rum (and all other drinks of choice). Basically, in our lifetime we may live in a hangover free world…AMAZING.
