Cumming Debuts Album, I Bought a Blue Car Today
Having been introduced to Alan Cumming in his role as Emcee of the Kit Kat Klub in Cabaret, I’ve become quite a fan over the last 10 years or so. Extravagant, edgy, creative and, I think, kinda hot. In addition to his prowess on the stage, I’ve enjoyed Cumming’s literary work, Tommy’s Tale, he makes a pretty amazing X-Men character, and he’s a great DJ – caught him once or twice at some NYC clubs.
Cumming is currently touring with his one man cabaret act, I Bought a Blue Car Today, encapsulating his greatest hits from the past 10 years in America. Highlights include a cover of Hedwig and the Angry Inch’s “Wig in a box”, “Mein Herr” from Cabaret, and an original composition about blacking out drunk a lot, but always waking up next to his loving husband…deep stuff! I guess you could say one of Alan’s most endearing qualities is his self-awareness as an absolute trainwreck…hmm, wonder why I’m so drawn to him!? The album version of the show made its debut last month.
And just in case you’re still not sold on my man, Alan, perhaps his fragrance line will sway you (Cumming The Fragrance) or try the whole line of body products (Cumming All Over). As I said above, extravagant, edgy, creative…and clever, too!
