When you think of Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, what comes to mind? For me, it’s definitely their eccentric, IDGAF style. And they have Bea Åkerlund, stylist to the stars and fashion activist, to thank for that. Bea’s newest venture? A limited-edition, goth/glam- inspired collection for IKEA called OMEDELBAR, available next March.

“Eccentric” is one word that wouldn’t typically be used to describe IKEA’s modern, minimalist pieces, but I love that they are branching out and collaborating with an artist who is not an interior designer.
Items from the collection include bold red lip-shaped pillows, glass decorative top hats, 3D printed hands to display jewelry, and a B-shaped lamp (for Bea, not Bey). According to IKEA, “While still being IKEA of course, OMEDELBAR is a chance to step into something new: the feeling of an exclusive Hollywood showroom where goth and glam meet each other.”

While lip-shaped pillows may not be my aesthetic, I do hope IKEA continues to partner with artists from all different industries and backgrounds, continuing their reign of the affordable, chic home goods space. Oh and, of course, let’s not forget those Swedish meatballs!
