“I’m A Cool, Hip Social Platform”- Pinterest

In an effort to keep up with competitors of the social media world (*cough* Instagram) and a growing demand for video content, last week Pinterest launched new and improved video features. According to Pinterest, searches for “inspirational videos” have increased 31% since last year (I have an inkling that a large chunk of that percentage is cute dog videos. JK.. kinda).
A greater focus on video feels like a natural evolution for the social platform. In addition to inspiration, it’s also widely used for beauty tutorials and referenced frequently for food recipes. The tools will allow official accounts aka legit businesses to upload content faster, store all videos in one tab, track content views, and schedule their pins ahead of time. The video uploader makes it easier than ever to add content directly to Pinterest. Business accounts will now find a separate video tab that stores all of their video content in one place.
Another huge advantage for companies using Pinterest is the introduction of lifetime video analytics, a feature that guarantees videos remain within the feed, which gives businesses a much more holistic view into the success of their content over a longer period of time. The new “Pin Scheduler” sort of acts like a Hootsuite for the social platform, and will allow Pinterest accounts to schedule video content ahead of time. This will certainly help creators roll out their marketing plans in a more seamless and organized fashion.
Props to Pinterest for getting with the times and making it easier for us marketers to do our jobs in the process!
