Hey. Can I steal you for a second to tell you about my new obsession?

So, I know I’m pretty much alone on an island in paradise with this one (after all, it’s one of the most longstanding and successful television series ever), but I unabashedly have been/am/will always be unimpressed by The Bachelor. I can fully appreciate why millions of people adore this show and watch on the edge of their seats, it’s just personally not my jam and I do not watch any of the seasons.

While the most shocking twists ever and most dramatic season finales in series history don’t do it for me, a well-designed, thoughtfully scripted and masterfully casted take on those? Give me that all day long.

I’ve recently started binging Burning Love, a not-so-subtle genius rip-off of The Bach and I am hooked. I’m on Season 2 of this three season mockumentary (that ran from 2012-2013 and was nominated for an Emmy) and I cannot recommend it enough. An obvious and intentional spoof of everyone else’s favorite dating reality show, Burning Love is as close to the real thing as you can get (seriously, a handful of scenes definitely had me wondering if this bordered on copyright infringement…). As they say, imitation is the most sincere form of mockery… er, flattery.

The casting, the writing, the staging – everything is on point and en fuego. Seriously, look at this loaded line-up of celeb cameos and starring roles. That alone is more than enough of a reason to tune in on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

An oldie but a goodie, Burning Love is definitely here for all of the right reasons and I know I’m walking away from this experience having found one of my new all-time favorite shows. Hope you agree!
