Italian Women May Get Paid Period Leave

Wouldn’t it just be great if you could snuggle up with your heating pad and Pamprin instead of hauling ass to work when Aunt Flo comes knocking?

The Italian government sure thinks so.

A bill was recently proposed by four female members of Italian Parliament, no doubt whom feel sick and tired (literally) of suffering through bloating, cramps and whiplash-inducing mood swings while pretending everything’s A-OK at the office. The bill would give women up to three paid days off each month when their bodies brutally punish them for failing to become pregnant.

Technically to qualify for the menstrual leave under the proposed bill, women must receive a formal diagnosis of “dysmenorrhea,” which involves  terrible pain from menstrual cramps. Easy enough, right?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I propose we flatter the hell out of Italy and draw up one of these bills for the good ol’ USA.
