Last week, over a year after DJ Avicii took his own life, his friends, family and fellow collaborators released an album to honor him. The album, titled “TIM” after Avicii’s given name, Tim Bergling, consists of a dozen songs that his loved ones felt embodied his life and most importantly, his legacy. The people that knew him best worked to chain together emails, text messages and notes from Tim himself to piece together his final album.

If you’re not familiar, Avicii is known for his infamous remixes like “Levels” and “Wake Me Up.” He disrupted the world of music in the 2010’s with his techno/tropical house vibes that were played all over the radio and throughout every frat house. Avicii was a remix mastermind who struggled in many ways, but his musical talents and techniques were revolutionary. This album features many of his closest friends and collaborators before his passing and celebrates a life that was taken too soon.
