I hate that I am even giving this trend any more attention by writing about it for m.blog, but alas, here I am, sitting at my desk with a horrified look on my face after scrolling through pages and pages of photos of male rompers. Yes, you heard me right.

The recent explosion on media of both the news and social variety is thanks to a company called RompHim, which launched a campaign on Kickstarter to make this product a thing. I am crediting the craze to a recent trend of “basic” bros, as made popular by Instagram accounts like @brosbeingbasic. For those who are not familiar, according to Urban Dictionary, “basic” is defined as “someone devoid of defining characteristics that might make a person interesting, extraordinary, or just simply worth devoting time or attention to.” For instance, a girl who drinks Starbucks, shops at Whole Foods, wears Lululemon leggings, and Instagram’s photos of themselves holding their food in front of a scenic backdrop can be considered basic. I can say this without being offensive since I will openly consider myself to be a basic bitch on a regular basis.

Anyway, wearing a RompHim is the most basic a bro can be. I mean, I hope anyone who actually wears these is doing it as a joke. Still, even being a “joke,” it is repulsive. They look like men trying to dress as babies or something.

For more on the trend, check out CNN’s video. And guys, PLEASE don’t try this at home.
