September 2005

In this month’s marlo monthly for September 2005, Fall 2005 Trend Report: From Runway to Real Life, Sunday AM: The New Saturday Night?, Playing House, Saint Katrina Event and The Opening Night.

As the lazy, hazy days of summer slip through our fingertips like the sand of Old Silver, so do our carefree dispositions and casual dress codes (collective sigh). But the passing of Labor Day also brings with it some good. It signals the end of oppressive humidity, mosquitoes and sunburn, ushering in its place crisp air, cashmere sweaters and the return of good hair days (hallelujah!).

Also returning with the season: the kickoff of the society calendar. We’ve got the goods on what promises to be the first of many galas you’ll read about over the coming months. Arguably the fashion industry’s most highly anticipated season, you’ll learn what looks will replace summer’s hippie boho at the Fall Trend Report runway show. Some enjoy the end of summer, as it allows for more time indoors to contemplate one’s surroundings. We’ll introduce you to a wonderful book that will help you do just that. But for those having trouble saying goodbye, trust our suggestion for a great brunch option where you can sit inside and outside at the same time, enjoying the best of both seasons. Finally, we’ll fill you in on how you can bring hope to those affected by Hurricane Katrina, while doing nothing more than fulfilling your weekly social quotient.
