Last Friday night I ventured out to the newest Back Bay nightspot, Mini Bar, in the Copley Square Hotel. The corner space, which was previously occupied by the trendy but short-lived, Domani, has been revamped and replaced with a new lounge and creative name.

Mini Bar plays the part of a hotel bar well. Dim lighting, comfortable yet sleek couches and an attractive staff create an evening scene familiar to Boston. With my girlfriends in tow, I settled into the back area of the lounge and made myself at home.

‘Mini’ is the operative word in the Copley Square Hotel’s latest venture. ‘Mini’-malistic design, ‘Mini’ bottles of alcohol like Grey Goose and champagne for bottle service, and the availability of Pringles, playing cards and other such items that you’d typically find in your hotel’s ‘Mini’ bar. The menu is adorned with innovative cocktails that play up St. Germain and put twists on the classic Bellini. Sinful favorites like Portobello mushroom pizzas, rosemary & truffle French fries and Kobe beef sliders are the perfect accompaniment to whichever beverage you choose.

A chic setting, reasonably priced lounge menu and creative cocktails may be the right ingredients for a successful Mini Bar… and Saturday evening out. It’s intimate yet unintimidating setting makes this a great date spot as well as a girl’s night.
