These days, an actress/model/athlete creating a fashion line seems like old news. From Sofia Vergara to Kendall and Kiley to David Beckham, every celeb wants a piece of the pie. Although you can occasionally find me browsing the racks of Lauren Conrad for Kohls, I have yet to find a celeb fashion line with quality, affordable clothing with sizes that span beyond S-M-L. But when I heard about one of my fave funny gals Melissa McCarthy designing a line for Seven7, I was intrigued.

But what can a comedian know about fashion? Well, turns out my gal has always had the fashion bug. “It’s always what I thought I would do,” she told Vogue. “I went into clothing and textiles in college and moved here with [shoe designer] Brian Atwood. I was going to finish at FIT and he made me do stand-up on the second night.” It doesn’t hurt that Ms. McCarthy claims to have been every size under the sun, from a 6, 12, and beyond, so she knows a women’s body (not to mention she always looks fierce herself).

The line will span sizes 4 to 28, “and goes beyond the age-old myth that only all-black looks can be slimming, with an adventurous, and equally flattering use of color-blocking.” Melissa told More, “People don’t stop at size 12…It’s an odd thing that you can’t go shopping with your friends because your store is upstairs, hidden by the tire section.” AMEN, sistah. As a shopper who occasionally browses the plus-size section for tops (#bigboobsprobs), I can admit to being a bit embarrassed and frustrated.

Though I’m very happy MM decided to take the comedy route, I am equally excited about her line, which was introduced on HSN last week, and will officially debut Sept. 1. Just in time for my fall closet purge!
