Over the Hill. . . And Flawless!
The classic and beloved icon, Barbie, is turning 50 today. And even though she’s been around for decades, she hasn’t seemed to age a bit!
This blonde bombshell has done it all. She’s been a serious business woman, career woman, mother, doctor, nurse, Indian princess, model, movie star, Miss America, big sister to Skipper, best friend to Midge, married to Ken, divorced from Ken… and much, much more. She’s cruised the streets in her red Ferrari, partied and dined at the hottest places all over the world, lived in her dream house, slept little, ate decadently—yet still manages to have no bags under her eyes, wrinkled skin deposits, or sagging anything. Fifty never looked so good!
More importantly, her lifestyle has paved the way for many young girls to be comfortable in their own skin, girls who grew up pretending that one day they, too, could have what she did. We know today, as adults, that it will never be possible, but at a young age it appeared so alluring and inspiring. This will continue to go on for generations to come, and the legacy of Barbie will never disappear.
Happy Birthday Barbie! May you continue to conquer the impossible and do whatever it is that you do that keeps you looking oh-so-good. To 50 more years… and then some!
