Pantone is Going Green in 2017
In a nod to my first blog post ever written at marlo, “Color Me Crazy But What’s Pantone?”, I have taken the liberty to report once again on Pantone’s newly released Color of the Year, now more of a self-appointed expert and not a complete newbie. Last year, I wrote that I would “proudly join the throngs of my co-workers celebrating 2017’s pick next year,” so here I am folks!!
As you may remember, the color of 2016 was a two-for-one – the blending of Rose Quartz and Serenity to “represent the gender blur of color in fashion, and on a larger scale, a societal movement towards gender equality and sexual fluidity.” This year, Pantone has gone green, literally selecting “Greenery” as 2017’s main squeeze. Symbolic of Mary Jane’s perpetual legalization you ask? Ah no, my friend. With 2016 being somewhat of an uneasy year for everyone, the selection is supposed to help instill a sense of reassurance “amid a tumultuous social and political environment.” Additionally, the shade calls upon the environment, to represent the “reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” I think everyone can agree we could all use a little more rejuvenation and perspective as we continue onward – great thinking Pantone.
Until next year my colorful readers…my money’s on Azure for 2018. Count it.
