#PitBullFlowerPower

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about owners of dogs walking into animal rescue centers, dropping off their dogs and walking out. When I say a lot, I actually mean two, however I’m smart enough to know that this goes on a lot more than I’d like to think. (If you’re looking to cry your eyes out see this post about Cookie and this post about Bobby.)

Naturally as a dog lover, these stories upset me to my core and make me wish I knew someone who dealt anthrax so I could ship it to the owners. Ok, I’m kidding with that last line. But I DO wish great misfortune on their family and children to come.

Anyways, back to the DOGS. A breed that is commonly thrown into a shelter is the most misrepresented and underappreciated breed—Pit Bulls. While many will argue that they are mean and violent by nature, they are actually quite well tempered but like any child, you must raise them well.

To help fight this negative stigma against Pit Bulls, photographer Sophie Gamand travels around the country to animal rescue facilities and takes pictures of Pit Bulls wearing flower crowns and uses the hashtag #PitBullFlowerPower… because who can say NO to a dog in a FLOWER CROWN? I’ll let you be the judge.
