There’s No Limit to Fashion in SATC2

There’s No Limit to Fashion in SATC2

The numbers are in! Cosmo reports that an estimated $10 million was spent on the wardrobe and accessories for Sex and the City 2. Only the best for SJP and her girls! Certainly the movie will in no way reflect the financial pressures that many Americans continue to face. But the show’s extravagant fashion is one of the elements that has made SATC stand out, and over the past decade SATC has played a major role in creating some of the greatest fashion statements. From the nameplate-necklace trend to making Manolo Blahnik a household name, Sex and the City has always been on the forefront of fashion.

It looks like SATC2 is setting the bar even higher, which means great eye candy for its loyal fashionista fans! In one scene, Carrie will be sporting $4,000 Blonds jeans beneath a $47,190 silver and gold Chanel dress. Keep an eye out for other current and emerging trends — maxi dresses, bold jewelry and belts, plenty of print mixing and even head wraps.

While Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda have gotten mixed reviews on their escapades this time around (however, the $14.2 million in box office it pulled in on opening day proves that the average chick doesn’t care much about thumbs up/down), with promises of to-die-for wardrobes on display, I’ll be heading to the theaters anyway! As Carrie once wistfully said: “When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I felt it fed me more.” Let the fashion feast  begin!
