Snapchat Goes Primetime!
From filters to memories, to featured and live content, Snapchat is constantly evolving and growing to satisfy the interests of its consumers and brands alike. In the social platform’s latest move, “Snapcodes,” which are account specific QR codes that allow you to add friends easily, are now being used for the first time ever on television. FOX’s live telecast of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which premiered last week, used Snapcodes three times during the program in between the show and commercials. Basically, anyone tuning into the musical could capture the show’s Snapcode on the screen to unlock special filters only available to viewers.
This not only helps with social engagement, but also encourages others to tune into the show too so they can get in on the action – PR at its finest if you ask me.
While this is Snapchat’s first foray into cross-promotion on TV, you can definitely expect to see a lot more clever integration in the upcoming year, with activations for Empire and 24: Legacy both allegedly in the works. I will definitely be snapping in…
