Snubs And Surprises To Come This Awards Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, I’m not talking about the holiday season, I’m talking about awards season. This month saw the start of the new year and a star-studded set of red carpets. The Golden Globes were held on January 6th and generated buzz for the Oscars, coming up on February 24th. All rumors as to who will be attending the upcoming Academy Awards were put to a stop when the nominees were announced last week.

The announcement included some surprises and snubs, as it typically does. Up for “Best Picture” are Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Green Book, A Star is Born, and Vice. Bradley Cooper was unable to crack the “Best Director” category for A Star is Born, but did receive a nomination for his acting role in the film. Timothee Chalamet’s role in Beautiful Boy was also ignored and, while it was nominated for “Best Picture,” the cast of “Black Panther” received no acting nominations.

With so many amazing films nominated and no announced host, the 91st Academy Awards is sure to be an unpredictable, must-watch for all film fanatics.
