Stamp of Approval

The only time I use postage stamps is to mail in checks to companies that don’t yet take online payments. But stamps are a necessity and luckily, they don’t have to be lame. They can add character and personality to my otherwise boring white envelopes.
The United States Postal Service always has a selection of different stamp designs. There’s the classic American flag stamp. You can mark just about any holiday with stamps for Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, Lunar New Year and many other occasions. Some stamps honor important historical figures like JFK, Sally Ride or Harvey Milk, while others support causes like breast cancer research or species conservation efforts. And of course, there are tons of other random designs from everything from fruit and flowers to Disney villains and Star Trek.
But the stamp collection coming out this summer is unlike any other. Why? Because it’s a scratch-and-sniff collection!
As a sticker collector in elementary school, scratch-and-sniff stickers were highly coveted. Now, as a responsible adult, I can use scratch-and-sniff stamps to send in my bill payments. What more could I ask for? For them to be cute and popsicle-themed, of course! And the USPS delivered with the “Frozen Treats Forever” collection featuring watercolors by South African artist Margaret Berg.
Check your mailbox this summer to see if you were lucky enough to get snail-mail adorned with a sweet-smelling stamp!
