The Beauty of MinuteMaid….Who Knew?!
By no means would I consider myself a cocktail aficionado…I like it straight, simple and strong. When confronted with a fanciful menu of artisanal cocktails I typically slap it down on the table and order a Ketel, up. That being said, I can most definitely appreciate the art of mixology and along the way I have found myself quite impressed by some of the more classic libations shaken and stirred for my enjoyment…to name a few, the French 75 at Players Lounge in London, Eastern Standard’s Whiskey Smash, my friend Liz’s Pimms Cup and a well-ratioed Campari & Soda with fresh orange on any sunny patio I can find. However, going back to my love of the basics, this summer I’ve been turned on to a surprisingly simple mixer that has added a refreshing twist to my somewhat ho-hum attitude to alcohol…MinuteMaid Limeade.
Eeeew — I know, but so good! One friend mixed it into red wine and added chopped fresh fruit — lazy man’s sangria — hit the spot! Another uses it as the base for her daiquiris, shaking it up with some rum and Cointreau…gotta say, works for the hot summer months! Despite my initial resistance to such a seemingly down-market additive…I’m sold. That weird little cardboard can of frozen juice concentrate has made its way into my freezer and it’s there to stay!
