The Juicy Truth About Wellness Shots

Break out your lemons and cayenne pepper, friends. Sniffle season is here, which means it’s time for all the health fanatics to start self-medicating with home-brewed wellness shots.
If you’ve never heard of wellness shots, just imagine rounding up all the superfood-esque ingredients you have in your pantry (think apple cider vinegar and turmeric), combining them in a glass, and pounding back the potent elixir in one fell sip. Sound disgusting? Well, that’s because it is. But if you have a sense of allegiance to your body and treating it to the finest healing powers nature has to offer, taste is the sacrifice you must make.
While I’m pretty far from what anyone would consider a health aficionado, my friends recently convinced me to partake in the ritual of making and taking wellness shots. Though I was weary of both the look and inferred taste of the mixture, I was actually shocked by how much better I felt after drinking it. My energy levels kicked up immediately, and after a couple rounds throughout the week, my sniffles decreased. If this kind of immune system boost sounds right up your alley around this time of year, here’s a wellness shot recipe I recommend using:
- 1 spoonful of apple cider vinegar
- Juice of ½ a lemon (heat the lemon slice in the microwave for 15 seconds for optimal juice rendering)
- 1 dash of cinnamon
- 1 dash of cayenne pepper
- 1 dash of turmeric
- 1 teeny tiny sprinkle of black pepper
- 1 splash of water (the brave-of-heart skip this step, but I’d recommend diluting to salvage your stomach)
Just plug your nose and down it. Cheers to your new future as a health legend!
