The Leather Shorts Paradox

The Leather Shorts Paradox

When the temps start rising above 70 degrees, it’s only natural to want a crotch full of leather, right?

Despite common sense reservations to the contrary, the buyers at departments stores across the country have loaded up on the trend, stocking leather shorties from Marc by Marc Jacobs ($428 at Bloomingdales), Helmut Lang ($695 at Bergdorf Goodman) and True Religion ($398 at Neiman Marcus) for Summer 2010. Since leather shorts make about as much sense as a corduroy bikini, you won’t see me hopping on this bandwagon any time soon.

If I wanted to shell out $400 on an uncomfortable downstairs situation, I’d buy a one-way ticket to LA and spend five minutes in a bathroom stall with Lindsay Lohan.
