TikTok: The New Grocery List?

So, you’re conducting your nightly ritual of scrolling through TikTok and stumble across the most drool–worthy looking recipe on your FYP (FYI, ‘FYP’ stands for ‘For You Page,’ which showcases videos the app thinks you might like). Maybe it’s a recipe for the viral baked feta dish that’s everywhere? Trouble is, TikTok videos can be quick, and it can be difficult to follow along while multitasking. Cue the frantic running back and forth across the kitchen while attempting to keep up with the video (been there).
Well, good news for all you TikTokers out there! In partnership with the recipe app Whisk, TikTok is making it easier to follow along by testing out a new “see full recipe” button that will be added to cooking videos posted by creators. The button will navigate to a grocery list of items and instructions along with an image of the final product. If you’re a Whisk user, you’ll also have the option to save the recipe for future reference.

If you don’t see the recipe icon on the app just yet, have no fear. According to TechCrunch, it’s still in a testing phase and has not been fully rolled out to all users yet. That said, if I were you, I’d get on over to TikTok and see if you are the lucky chosen one – and please send me the copycat recipe for Gigi Hadid’s spicy vodka pasta sauce!
