When you’re getting married, everyone asks you, “When are you getting married?” and then immediately following, “Where are you getting married?” The answers are matter-of-fact and easy to answer.

Then, you get pregnant and everyone asks you, “Do you know if you’re having boy or a girl?” and then immediately following, “What are you going to name him/her?” Not so easy to answer.

In comes, a website that offers baby naming assistance to clueless parents (and, let’s face it, that’s basically every first time mom and dad). We’ve all met a Mildred and a Gertrude and thought, “That poor girl, what were her parents thinking?” In an effort to prevent bad names from happening to good people, baby-naming expert, Laura Wattenberg began her site. Her specialty is “analyzing name style-sorting”, so if you type in the name, “Madison” as your inspiration, the site will automatically generate a handful of other similar names that you might be interested in. For instance, “Madison” generates “Aspen”, “Sydney” (clearly sticking with the city theme here) as well as “Ava”, “Ashlyn” and “Hannah”.

The site offers hundreds of name choices for boys and girls and the more inspiration names you select, the more options you’ll be given. Heck, even without a bun in the oven, this site amazes me.

After reviewing all the names out there, I’d say it’s a good thing you have nine months…
