When Broadway “Stars” Align “For The Kids”
If you haven’t already, take a minute to listen to “Found Tonight.” Though you may not be musical theatre-obsessed, I believe anyone that listens to Broadway stars’ Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt’s mashup of “The Story of Tonight” (Hamilton) and “You Will Be Found” (Dear Evan Hansen), to create the beautiful “Found Tonight” will be moved.

Created to benefit March for Our Lives, to support an end to mass school shootings and gun violence, “Found Tonight” serves as a way to support the strong students who have stepped up to make a change in our country. Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt recognized this using an outlet through which we can all connect, the powerful art of music.
“In the wake of Parkland, I was awestruck by the strength and leadership of the students and their ability to speak truth to power,” Miranda said in a statement. “In the midst of their grief, they mobilized the youth of our nation and created a movement. This is their moment. Not just for themselves, but for all of us.”
Though many have opposing views on policy surrounding gun control, this song provides an opportunity to connect in a different way on an issue challenging all of us as citizens of the United States. To me, it served as a beautiful reminder that we’re all in this together. No matter your political affiliation or view on the topic of gun control, have a listen, take it in, and use this as an opportunity to continue the important discussion challenging our nation.
